    This page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

    Shortcuts

    Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting the restoration of a deleted article.

    This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

    Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    • Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AVL (engineering company), it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. and AVL List was just a redirect.

      I'm a tad confused by the contradictory replies above: (Not done followed by Done). The two drafts mentioned are clearly about the same subject (wikidata:Q300157, which is a pretty large engineering/tech company that has been around since that late 1940s).       @Cl3phact0: The "Not done" was for your request as written, which was for the article on the company. That article was deleted via AFD and so is not eligible for restoration via this process, as the notice clearly indicates. However, Graeme dug deeper and found there was a draft of an article for the same company and has courteously restored that for you. You may work on that draft. You will have to ensure that whatever problems the original article had are not present in the draft before you submit it for review. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:30, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      Thank you, UtherSRG. I was responding to a direct AFC type request on my Talk page (per PS above). The CSD G13 deleted draft was automatically flagged when I tried to make a new one of the same name. I had not seen the related AFD draft.
      Also, for what it's worth, I'm not overly interested in the subject, although, from my point of view, we should have on an AVL article on enwiki. Hopeful that @NorbertAdam1980 will do the bulk of the drafting, leaving it for non-COIs (e.g., myself, or perhaps @Schnitzelking) to tidy and publish a clean, compliant article.     @DavidRixon: Not done – this page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion and Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. This does not necessarily mean a suitable article on this topic cannot be created. If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This was undeleted over six months ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission.     Old drafts can certainly be retrieved. However, when you request and get a draft restored, then don't touch it for six months, and it gets deleted again, and then you again request restoration, we are going to ask, as I did, if you are ready to immediately start working on it. As, again, Draft space is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. I see no particular reason for deleting, except an exclusionist philosophy; we (quite literally) debated inclusion versus exclusion when I was a child, and I am now grey in the beard. However I am still working on the article and I was just about to add these 4 notable references that all explicitly address Mallers' role in the historical developments when El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender:

    Despite his very tender age Jack Mallers definitely earned his place in the history books and on Wikipedia.

    As you can see with my previous article about Saifedean Ammous, I am making a serious effort to represent the Bitcoin space on Wikipedia in an objective fashion. Given the current further adoption of Bitcoin and crypto in the USA this space warrants good coverage. I know the rules for notoriety very well and only work on pages that for 100% sure need to be on Wikipedia. Feedback from the Bitcoin community is very welcome since I'm learning every day. Senseless deletions are counter productive.

    PS What you say about Saifedean Ammous is really "out of line". His book "The Bitcoin Standard" got a separate article by somebody else. Ammous is a world renowned academic specialising in Austrian economics and author of the most influential book on Bitcoin. He is widely quoted. And operates one of the most influential podcasts on the subject as well. It is literally ridiculous to suggest that Ammous wouldn't deserve a Wikipedia page. It's much appreciated that you do not take any action here yourself (which in may opinion would amount to Wikipedia vandalism by the way). Could you be more specific than just refer to WP:N.     Soft deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Horae Beatae Mariae Virginis (Rps BOZ 44). This was a really poor nomination by User:PARAKANYAA, who really ought to know better. It was notified to the wrong projects and not notified to the right ones! The wrong ones are Literature and Christianity, neither needed or likely to be interested, while it should have gone to Visual arts and Middle Ages. This is the standard title for a Book of hours (rather like The Bible) so of course "There appear to be several other items with the same name" - it was the most common type of late medieval manuscript. If there are other sources, they probably won't use this cataloguer's title. Unsurprisingly, no one turned up at the Afd. It may or not be notable, but the deletion needs to re-run properly.
